Jeremy P. Monteiro has extensive experience advocating for employees in both the private and public sectors. His practice focuses on employment law, where he has successfully litigated cases under a wide range of Federal and State laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, USERRA, and the D.C. Human Rights Act. He also represents employees seeking recovery of unpaid wages under federal and state wage and hour laws.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Monteiro served for over a decade in the Employment Litigation Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. There, he represented the United States in employment discrimination cases nationwide, addressing issues of systemic workplace discrimination, including pattern and practice and disparate impact claims. His distinguished service earned him the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Divisions’ Distinguished Service Award and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas’ Award for his advocacy on behalf of firefighters subjected to discrimination.

In addition to litigation, Mr. Monteiro has experience conducting workplace investigations and has worked with employers to ensure legal compliance and best practices. He has also collaborated with organizations such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and has been a featured speaker at several leading employment law conferences, including those sponsored by the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Monteiro spent a decade in private practice representing employees facing unfair treatment and consumers subjected to deceptive trade practices.

An engaged member of the legal community, Mr. Monteiro is a past Board Member and active participant in the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA) and a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).

He earned his J.D. with honors from DePaul College of Law.
